Onyx character study for of her transformers character Onyx, he's a SR-71 Blackbird. Sneaky, sexy little guy. You can see my concept sketches here [link] I'm really happy with how this came out, I normally HATE any form of speedpaint I do. The format of the piece is inspired by <3
This is a good piece of artwork, and an excellent speedpaint, at that. For the quality, I must say that the shading is quite good; I can also easily tell that Onyx'es alt.-form is a Blackbird with the huge jet engines, the triangular fin on his arm with the US symbol, and the characteristic red line and triangle pattern on his thighs. The vision is well put together; the Blackbird was a spy/reconnaissance jet; that feature is reflected in Onyx'es posture and appearance; proud, cunning; narrow design, and, of course, the black color. I have never seen very many Blackbird Transformers done on DA, so the originality is good. The technique is nice and sharp in the ways of angular, with no majorly blurry areas, and the detail is not much but creates an impact. The impact makes me wonder more about what he does, his character, and why he chose to be a Blackbird in alt.-form. One thing that I would mention; make his eyes a little brighter, and maybe orange instead of blue to accent more on his shady character! This is definitely a speedpainting TF fans should see! Of course, this is all from my view, so I don't know what others think. But keep up the awesome work! Sekhmet
haha thanks. I'm glad, I really need to keep practicing with speedpaint style. I also need to fix his optics, just realized they are a bit awkward....hurdur
Its so hard D: I see these vids of people making them and they just seem to know where to put the light and shadows....blob it all together and BAM it looks awesomeness. Makes me Jelly. Still, you should try out [link] the square brush is sooooo nice to use for drawing ROBUTTS. I'm working on a picture of Tarn (transformers: mtmte) right now, because he's a BAAOOOSSSS. I'm loving that brush so hard oh gosh. Full opacity asjkjaskjkshja cool shading.
I hope than when the word awkward was being made, that they intentionally spelled it to LOOK as awkward as the meaning.
